Flat, straight-edged panels are going to be an issue no matter what method is used for trimming. Veneer core ply is rarely as flat as you want to get

If yours is getting tired better buy a new one in a few months. I assume they will be gone from stores by Fall. It will probably take ten to twenty years until this ban goes...
