With all of the negativity and political stuff going on with the Covid-19 virus it is time to look at the humorous side of things. Feel free to add more, but keep it clean or it will be deleted.

Help me choose a shaper from 3 options.

    Thread Starter: Kory Watson

I love making windows and doors in my free time, this is my hobby. I eventually want to do timber framing too. A shaper is an important part of making the above, and I want to upgrade. Background: My current machine is a Jet JWS-25CS (3HP, up to 3/4 spindle) I need support for a 1 1/4''...

    Tally Ho

    Thread Starter: Rob Luter

Apologies if this has been posted previously, but my search of the forum found nothing. I've been watching this series for a number of weeks now and found it fascinating. It covers the restoration/rebuilding of a 100 year old sailing yacht. The scale of the build is huge and I can't imagine the...

    Experience with reciprocating saw?

    Thread Starter: Tom Bender

We have the Ryobi ONE+ 18v battery system so I'd like to stay with that. Looking at the reciprocating saw for trimming branches and possibly shop work. Getting older and trying to not buy any more tools but at $58 it doesn't make a big dent in the plan. Will it chew thru 3" limbs?

    Toothing planes? practice?

    Thread Starter: stephen thomas

Something in one of the other handplane posts got me thinking about a subject that has puzzled me. Rigorous experiments by industry and the NFPL show that the best glue joint is between 2 matching smoothly knife planed surfaces. This includes hot hide glue; maybe excepting epoxy. Yet since...

    Unknown Block Plane

Of all of the hand planing I have ever done 99% is with the block plane. It fits in a pocket or tool belt. It can plane the edge of a door or the top

6500 seems rather high for an almost 30 year old machine felder or not. A t130 of that vintage would be 50% of that price and a equivalent Italian machine

Yes, that's the Felder shaper I'm eying. It was linked earlier in this thread, which is how I found it

Here are the SCM add-ons for that

    Spalted Cherry?

Boxelder? (which is a maple). It's very light weight, almost like Balsa. It often has pink. The third picture looks very different than the first two.
