Anybody bought Griggio through a US distributor?

Looks like this is their only US Distributor.

    http://www.jgmachinery.com/search/in...riggio&stype=l

Just looking for prices more then anything. They Felder/SCMI type prices?

Was looking at this combo J/P

    Thanks,
    Scott

I think Andreou Machine in NJ imports Griggio too.

I bought my jointer from Laguna. Its a Griggio PF310 ..

Griggio is much like SCM or Felder .. Felder tends to be a bit fancier, more anodized aluminium .. more fit and finish ..

When I was shopping for a jointer, I looked and looked at the Felder 16" and could not come to terms with the short beds.. My machine was a demonstrator model, discounted ..

I would not hesitate to buy another Griggio machine . The jointer is closer in build to the SCM than the Felder .. Its just a really overbuilt, cast iron, heavy duty machine .. nothing fancy .. just mass and precision..

    Here is a good example .. The fence is 7" high x 54" .. Cast Iron ..

Its a 2 person job to mount it .. It rolls back and forth with ease, but not as smooth as the aluminium fences on some other machinery .. Its not that " slick " .. but it stays 90 degrees no matter how much you move it ( common problem with imports ) .. and its heavily built .. Its not as pretty as anodized aluminium but its IMO just fine ..

Another good example is the adjustment of the infeed table .. Its a plain steel tubular handle .. Not thin wall, its actually quite a heavy handle, but its just plain .. no fancy rubber grip .. Having said that, the table will move up and down with just a finger .. smooth as silk .. The Felder, SCM, Martin lineage all move just as nice .. but might be a bit fancier ..

The newer Griggio stuff seems to be a bit sexier.. but I would rather have everything over built than sexy .. Many folks offer both ..

Another place to buy Griggio Equipment today is actually Martin . . Martin is private labelling Griggio machinery and selling it under the Martin name .. Considering that Martin is IMO the creme' of the crop on quality and price .. It says something that they would paint Griggio machinery turquoise and put there name on it ..

My jointer is a little older than Ricks but it is a really nice machine and with a tersa head I can change the blades in a couple of minutes. Ricks is a little nicer and they have improved how the out feed table is adjusted.
All in all high quality stuff.

    Thanks for the replies.

As much as I would beam with pride to be able to say I own a martin that torquoise paint job and sticker will add a ton to the price.

Working on getting a qoute now. Will let you know what the price is. Going to guess 11k for the griggio.

In the end I will probably just a hammer.

Scott .. I would check with Martin .. I get the feeling they ordered way too many machines from Griggio .. They are advertising a sale and the pricing on the slot mortiser was lower than the price from the Griggio dealer ..

Personally I would rather it be Griggio colors because its a Griggio, not a Martin .. but at the end of the day .. its going to be a heck of a machine regardless of the paint job ..
