Decided that I'd post my first project out here. Decided to put together a Moxon Vise. Using Benchcrafted hardware. Chops are 8/4 maple milled down to 1 3/4". Using a piece of oak as the stabilizer - and took a design feature from Derek Cohen's Moxon design (although I have a LONG way to go before I can even stand in his shadow!). Used the new mallet to chop the mortises for the nuts. Pretty happy with the fit on those. Just waiting for the glue to dry on the stabilizer piece. I could have really used a drill press table for drilling out the oblong holes in the chop, but I got it done with a weird and ungainly setup and a bunch of clamps on the drill press. Another project ahead, I can tell. Do the projects and adapt and build out the shop and tools. One step at a time.
