    Using Bush Oil

Sent this thread to the finishing section, but thought I had better send it to the turning forum as well as that is the one I usually look at.

My son had made a butter knife holder for his daughter from Padauk wood to as size of 9" x 7" by 2". Finished with mineral oil. The problem now is that the top edges appear to be showing a powder like substance.

I have since buffed with the beal system, 1 & 2. The same problem is still occurring.

Thought now of coating with Bush Oil, then rebuffing again. Or as I have seen on many posts, using the Antique Oil Finish.

Bush Oil, as I have it on hand and it was suggested to me from Woodcraft for bowls

Antique Oil as I have that on hand and use it on lamps that I turn.

    Padauk?

Padauk is one of those "oily woods" that keep bleeding through the finish. I use a bath of acetone as a degreaser for those woods.
