I'm about 85% sure this is Elm, it came from a bigtime blank exchange we did back in April. It ended up with some neat ray flecks similar to Sycamore. 9 1/2" diameter by 5" tall, buffed Antique oil finish.

Travis that is beautiful. I really like the form and finish. I do believe you are right on it being Elm. That is a awesome looking piece of wood.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funnybone.
That sure is a great looking piece. Looks like you dipped it in glass.

Nice form and the wood and finish are stunning! Well done Travis!

Great piece, Travis! That finish is awesome.
Wonderful Travis!
How many coats of finish do you have on it?
A few hours south of Steve Schlumpf
That's a beauty Travis! That little rise at the opening looks great. That wood could just as easily be sycamore or elm, but it's pretty for sure.
Man thats pretty !!
Ditto from me, that is a beauty!

Thanks everyone. John, Pete I used 2 coats of Minwax Antique oil. I get mine locally at Ace Hardware. I've seen it listed on Rockler's website.
