So a friend who I gave a cutting board to a year ago texted me and asked it it was ok to put hot pots on the cutting board.. I said I generally don't do it, but don't know how hot a pot would have to be to do damage to it.
Thoughts?

I have cutting boards/trivets in the kitchen that I put very hot pots and pans on, but they are just literally a board, with no glue to worry about. I don't know about the other kind.
First, it kinda has to do with what kind of oil or finish you put on it.
Charring of the wood can happen around 400 deg F, though finishes may well be damaged at much lower temperatures. A hot frying pan can certainly char the wood. I don't put anything hotter than boiling water down on my wood counters or cutting boards.
