My 10 year old Chevy highlights the trailer hitch when you get close. I don't recall what it is now. I see what he did with leaving the tailgate open a few inches. Giving the camera a better downward look. However the only time I have any issue is if the sun is shining into the camera making it hard to see. I can usually always get my tandem axle hooked in two tries. Get close and look and adjust either a little further back or pull up a little. It does help to center up certainly. Newer vehicles are better. My son's F 150 has a button he can push that does the same thing.

Just realized that the last time I towed anything, video cameras were still the size of shoe boxes.
