Cliff, if you lived closer I would turn you a couple handles on my lathe.
Do you know any lathe owners in your area?
How about a school with a wood shop? That is how I made my first few handles. My first time on a lathe was in an evening woodworking class for adults at a local high school.
Soon after starting there someone answered my WTB a lathe ad posted on the local grocery store bulletin board. I got an old lathe and some tools for $100 and still use it for fun and making tool handles that fit my hands.
