I just had some nice maples taken down at my house and would like to cut them up for lumber. Does anyone know of a sawmill operator in the Albany/ Saratoga area of NY? Found only one on Craigslist. Thanks

Pete, I have seen posts for portable sawmills on Facebook in the Albany area.

Pete, I did this for the first time last year with a black cherry tree. I suggest going to the woodmizer web site and then to their "Find a Local Portable Sawmill Service". You put in your location and they will give you a list of nearby sawyers.
Get some anchor seal and coat the ends of the boards ASAP after they are sawn.
I would also follow the experienced SMC sawyer poster's advice, and initially stack and dry them outside. I took mine in the shop for about 5 weeks, and then moved most of them outside. However, the damage was already done - they dried too fast, and some boards have developed splits.
