    Delta 46-460 DC Motor

Has anyone ever had to replace the motor on the Delta 46-460 lathe? Mine is the Type 1. A few weeks ago the circuit breaker started popped. After not finding anything wrong with the speed controller or switches I took the motor off and discovered that one of the brush holders shorted to ground. That is what was causing the circuit breaker to trip. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Has anyone tried to find a reasonably priced replacement motor, if so where did you purchase it?
I did take the motor to rebuilding service in town, but so far they have not had time to replace the brush holder.

I think that the job of replacing the brush holder is pretty trivial. Perhaps a 15 minute job. So the cost should be low, assuming the motor shop doesn't take advantage of you.

Ken, I agree with Brice, they are not all that hard to replace. If you could have gotten one, you could easily replace it yourself. I've never done it on a Delta motor, but I have on others.
