    The Japanese use a plane to shave dried, fermented and smoked, tuna. It is mounted upside down on top of a box.

    There are devices that look like a plane for shaving ice.

    The modern ones are a bit different.

    One could also use a plane for cutting potato chips.

    The problem is it could get kind of messy. The plane would need disassembly to clean up afterward. Maybe a bevel up plane would be easier for that.
