I try to buy a small something from every wood artist I admire. I have one shelf in my display case in the shop office with a variety of interesting things, boxes, mirrors, ornaments, a turned egg. Some I bought, some were gifts.
(Sorry to everyone if this looks like I'm advertising for Ed - not my intention but I do strongly believe in supporting the artists I can, at least in some small way. I don't usually try to sell things but I get excited when someone wants to acquire something I made. If I were a rich person I probably be one of those "collectors" and have a house full of stuff! I've been trying to buy something the other John Jordan for years now but his normal stuff is a bit (er, a lot) out of my budget!)
Thanks Richard. Yes, making yo-yos is very cool. Here's one made from 3,720 year old Russian Bog Oak. BTW, the old yoyo turning DVD we've been talking about covers the type with o-rings embedded in the wood. I use a different process for making the type without o-rings, and I'll try to put together a YouTube how-to video on that within the next week or two.
Best,
Ed D.
