    Why is deals & discounts----lumber yard private?

    Because you are required to be a contributor to access them. Pay $6 a year and you can get in.

    Yeah, but the biggest benefit is simply helping to keep SMC's doors open. A couple years back someone revived Keith's "I'm sorry but I've probably got to close the doors" thread and it really hit home that a noticeable part of this place's upkeep comes from thar $6 per year.
