Newbie checking in with a Sprunger bandsaw question.

    Good morning, all.............

My name is Kent, and I am new to Sawmill Creek. I recently inherited a Sprunger 14" bandsaw, of which I know nothing about. It has no motor, but, it seems to be in pretty good shape. The tires are cracked and in need of replacing, and it needs a new blade 94", I think.

I am guessing a 1 HP motor would be sufficient for my purposes, but, what speed motor should I buy? 1750? Also, how do I determine the pulley size? I wasnt a big math guy in school, so, simple is better.

I found some new urethane tires on ebay, and will be seeking out a cabinet for it.

Any body know anything about this Sprunger 14" that will help me bring my grandpa's old saw back to life?

    Have an awesome day!

If you have a sheave on the back of the saw already, measure it and post the size here.

Typical speed for a woodcuttng bandsaw is about 2500 ft/sec blade speed. Figure out the pulley sizes and motor speed combination that will give you that.
