I haven't been doing much turning lately, had other things going on. Other than a few ornaments for Christmas, these are the only pieces I've turned in the last few months.
I turned this one today. Felt good to make shavings again. It's redwood burl, 6" x 2" finished with Danish oil and Antique oil and I think l'll add some WOP for a little more sheen.
I've been working on this one for about 2 1/2 months. It was commissioned by one of the groomsmen that saw a smaller piece I gave the bride and groom as a wedding present.
It's Norfolk Island Pine, 14" x 7". I started applying finish yesterday and it sucked up a full pint of Danish oil like a sponge. I'll add a few more coats and then give it some kind of top coat. It will be used as a center piece, so I didn't go super thin or for translucence.
Thanks for looking!
