I'm building raised panel doors using cope & stick. Most everything I've seen says finish the panel, then do the assembly. At the moment, the panels have one good finish coat (I'm spraying S-W alkyd enamel) with a couple more to go. The rails & stiles are all primed.
Debating whether to
  1. finish them, too and then assemble, or
  2. do glueup and then finish the frames.

If I take option 2, how do I keep the panel from being "painted to " to the frames? I'm not sure that I can tape the edge of the panels and use that to cover the panel before assembly, and then get the tape off after spraying the assembly.

Project is looking good so far and I'd hate to screw it up now! Thanks for help.
