Thread: I am frustrated

I was taught to use sandpaper like someone else was paying for it. I still use it til it's worn because, well, I'm paying for it.

So do you think I can re-sand with no more than220 grit and try to stain again? All I have stained so far is scrap pieces.

You can sand the solid wood until the cows come home. Be careful with the plywood. They make the veneers pretty thin these days.

Leo I know about the ply,you have to very careful not to sand through. I just tried using some Minwax stain with poly in it. This gave me the look I was after. I think two Coates of this with light sanding between then a coat or two of poly will do the trick!

    Is this bad?

It's just hard to get a nice even color in the finish with this. Nothing really wrong with the product. I've never been able to get it to come out that way I liked. Could be me.
