Can anyone shed any light on this saw?

Yet another orphan, literally left on my doorstep by one of many neighbors, who, most likely, view my old-tools habit as a way to get rid of their "junk."
I admit to having many, many old saws. But they all have recognizable handles. I've never seen one like this - a mostly metal handle with a wooden grip.
All I can make out in the etch is an "S" and "M" with a good amount of space between them.

It is on page 107 of the book "The Art of Fine Tools". Says it is made by Vulcan. I had one and have since gotten rid of it. As I recall, mine said Harvey Peace, Vulcan saw works.
    cheers

Thanks again Pat, for pointing me in the right direction. I was then able to find this old thread:
