beautiful platters - I impressed with how flat you were able to get them. That is hard to do (at least for me).

Great job on both platters! The crotch figure is fantastic on both. I think you did a really nice job on the texturing but my preference is the simpler rim as there is already so much going on with the wood itself. The texturing would be an excellent embellishment for a plainer wood.
