I buy all my stuff from these guys - their prices are not the cheapest but their quality is outstanding and definitely worth it. I have bought 8/4 walnut that had just 0% wastage.
Ditto for me. I don't buy anywhere else but Hearne.

Southern Ontario Canada: 400 bft of 4/4 poplar, random lengths 8' and over for $1.02/bft this past week. Pool purchasing with other WWKRs to meet price break quantities is effective if you are looking for smaller quantities in your shop but are after the best price. Ask where the price breaks are and also get your pricing from the area sales rep if you can. They are more motivated to sell than the order desk guys and you can always save money talking to them.

All the above is s2s and what ever grade falls off the truck.

I get mine from a local sawmill so they only carry local hardwoods. Keep in mind it is all rough and air dried to about 12%

Red and white oak - $.60
    maple - $.50
    Ash - $.50
    Cherry - $1.00
    Walnut - $1.00
    cedar - $.75

He doesn't really grade his lumber as his main business is pallet building but all in all it is pretty good lumber. I've been buying from him for about 3 years now and have about 2000 bdft stockpiled of various species. He is very liberal in his measuring, usually only charging for usuable board footage.

    4/4 Cherry $5.5 4/4 red oak $3.00 4/4 white oak $5.5 4/4 hard maple $4.05 4/4 Walnut $5.00
    8/4 Cherry $6.20 8/4 red oak $4.80 8/4 white oak $4.8 8/4 hard maple $4.6 8/4 Walnut $6.25
These are prices from a local dealer, Northland Forest Products. They have more species and thicknesses. Mostly 12' lengths but they have deals on "shorts" (6' +/-). They also have a fair selection of cabinet plywood. I had spaces between the prices above but when I post it just compresses it all. Sorry

Great prices, especially for stock less than 3/4" thick.
