Turned this bowl from a dead fall i picked up this fall. Wormy butternut crorch. 7.5"x1.75"x3/16ths, finished with walnut oil and beeswax. I think it looks a little dumpy, like I should have started the curve up closer to the center.

Lot's to look at in this one Philip. I'd suggest some bigger pictures so we can see how well this came out!

Very nice looking bowl Phil. Love the character that the holes give it.

Great character..... too much balance might look too fabricated. I like the random nature of wood in all its' forms.... knots, worm holes, feather, streaks, whatever. I have taken many items to craft shows that I thought were UGLY, and they all sold, usually to much fanfare. I don't think that the average person gets to see much of the stuff we take for granted. And the more unusual, the more attention it seems to get.
Nice wood. I like the shape as well. Butternut is one of those woods on my list, when I find a source.
Thank you,

Good looking stuff! Great color in that feathering, and the form looks good to me.
Looks great from where I'm sitting.
You needn't second guess yourself with this bowl. Well done. Did you finish with oil? The wood looks darkened quite a bit. I've never turned butternut but it is a favorite of mine for flat work.

I love Butternut, I really love wormy Butternut, and add in the crotch feather, and this is awesome!! The butternut I have turned darkened like this with BLO - beautiful stuff!
Very nice. Lots of things to like about this bowl!
Very nice bowl Philip. Nie capture of the feather grain and the soft finish is a nice touch, really lets the grain show.
