Greetings fellow woodworkers. I've made a few posts here but have lurked on and off. I'm a relative woodworking newbie - not many tools, not much experience, not many projects under my belt, but a strong interest and desire. I've met a few people locally, but I've been searching for a local woodworking group to no avail. I've found a couple of turning groups in south Louisiana, but nothing local.
So I decided to just start a group. What I envision is nothing very formal or organized. No officers to elect or dues to pay. Just some folks meeting up every now and then (say one Saturday per month) at somebody's shop (maybe alternate which member's shop we meet at) to talk about woodworking. Maybe show off some projects, exchange ideas, drink some coffee, do some trading, etc. Newbies like me and experts that can help us out.
I started by creating a Yahoo group which can be found here:

Hopefully this can help a few people get connected and we'll see where things go from there.
So if there is anybody from the Central Louisiana area that would be interested, please join!
