I need a sheet of 1/4" cherry plywood for a project. I live in Fawn Grove, Pa. and would like to find someplace where I can walk in and buy it. Is that possible? Other than that, perhaps an internet order. Where would you suggest?

Stefan, Russell Plywood in West Reading will sell to you. I was just down there on Friday picking up some plywood from them for the first time. There is also a company in Reading called Industrial something or other. I did business with them several years ago, but lost their number and could not find it again, which is how I wound up at Russell. There may be someone closer, but these are the ones I know. There is also CH Briggs in Quakertown, but you need to set up an account with them.

Okay Ken, I'll try again. This isn't local for a lot of you but they do deliver.... http://www.theworkbench.com/plywood.php and they have a lot of selection.Originally Posted by Ken Salisbury

Stefan,
I have purchased ply from Middletown Lumber off Rt283.
www.middletownlumber.com A bit of a pain for you to get to from York - maybe up 83 then back down 283 to Middletown? Anyhow, they have a good selection. A friend made a dining table for his clan (4 kids) with a nice qtr sawn veneered oak ply. We had to dig a bit, but it was worth it.
OBTW, the site is a little off beat for a lumber yard as are their TV ads.
If you find a great place on your side of the river, let us know!
Good luck,
Wes
Yes, that is a way off-beat web site. In fact, I don't know how they do any business based on that web site. All I get is this welcome screen, an old style movie, and a thanks for visiting screen. No address, product list, or anything. Actually, it's a little frustrating.
Stefan
edit: Ok, I got to their main pages. It doesn't always work, but I made it!

I think Bill was thinking of Industrial Plywood in Reading. The Mennonite sawmill I go to sometimes told me about them.

Haven't dealt with them yet myself so I don't know much about them. According to the web site there is a location in Lewistown also. Don't know if that's any closer than Reading - maybe about the same in the opposite direction.

Thanks Tom, that is them! Of course, now I have THREE plywood places in reasonable driving distance.Originally Posted by Tom Sweeney
By the way, for anyone reading this, I paid $32.00 and change for each sheet of paint grade birch veneer. This is very good stuff, much better than you will find at the Borg. It has been a while since I bought stain grade, but it usually comes in at around $40.00 or so.
