    Another wood door pull

Here's another door or drawer pull that is integrated into the door.

Construction... Notice that about an inch of the edge of the door is a different piece of lumber from the rest. I start the pull construction with that strip not yet glued on. I carve the big recess into the face of the door using an Arbortech blade and sanding disks on a 4" body grinder. Then I position the edge strip on the door to mark where the fingertip recess needs to go. I take the strip off the door, and hog out the recess with a plunge router. Then I bandsaw the curve on that edge. Then I glue it on to the rest of the door, and sand until it flush and shaped correctly.

The design can be used as a door pull or as a drawer pull.

This is a great looking piece!! At first I wasn't sure about the offset handles, but they grow on you. Very nice....simple but elegant.

I should have noted that this dresser is 40"Wx48"Hx17"D. It is almost all solid lumber; the only plywood is the back panel. The exterior is rift-sawn bubinga. The interior parts -- shelves and drawer guts -- are birch. The drawers are NK-style.
