Oak, Becote, CocoBolo, Purple Heart and Lignum Vitae Hinged Box

I’ve made a few boxes to play with different types of joinery and wooden hinges.
There is a very thin strip of maple that separates the bocote/cocobolo for contrast.
These are not hand cut dovetails though I will be making some soon now that I have hand tools.

I’ve not worked with purple heart much and I’ve heard the color changes or fades after time. How can it be treated to keep that gorgeous purple color?

Here is a view of the box with the lid open so the purple heart shows more clearly.

This box is just treated with some tung oil.

You can also see the Mesquite and Turquoise turned Heart that I am working on.
I intend to use borosilicate glass to make colored flames that are coming out of the valves on the heart.
    I’ll post that later.
    Thanks for looking.
