Hello,

Here are two simple maple memory boxes I made this week. They are made from some scraps of figured maple I had in the “Maybe” box in my shop. We all have that “Maybe “ box, you know the one, with cut offs to precious to discard, just in case……Maybe you can do something with them.

The lids are also from the same box, they are lacewood trimmed with a curly cherry pull edge.

The other night while working a flat project I found a piece of maple square stock and made this in an hour.

The basic box is a mitered candle box, with my concept of a sliding lid, from the side rather than the end.

The finish is several coats of Watco Natural, a few wipe on poly coats and a final rubbed out finish with a wax finish.

They are about 10 inches by 5 inches……and they were a great way to get some lovely wood out of the shop.

Take care,
Jim
