It's taken almost a year to build this island, but I finally prevailed and it's installed and operational. The island is poplar and plywood. The counter top is a 4/4 maple lamination, almost 10' long. I smoothed the top with a Stanley #7 and Veritas bevel up smoother. It was my first foray into kitchen cabinets and handplanes.
