    Layout String?

does anyone know where I can find non-stretch string for laying out ovals, it is nearly impossible to lay one out with a string that stretches!

I agree string is a hassle. There is a fishing line called "spectra" that can be found in good tackle stores, sold by the yard. The stuff has no stretch and is inordinately strong. BTW, I just bought a jig for making ovals from Rockler. It's a little pricey, but worth it to me; you affixt the thing to your router, adjust it to your major/minor arcs, and route out your oval. Good luck, Vince

Jacob, Try a craft store and see if they have a spool of very fine wire. I have a spool that is thinner than a piece of sewing thread.

I agree with Vince to try a tackle store. I would think some regular 50+lb test line should do it. It definitely stretches but not under the negligible amount of force that you will be putting on it drawing an oval. If that doesn't work, try some cable leader material like they use on bluefish rigs.
