    Writing Tables

This past weekend, I completed 2 writing tables that are surprise gifts to daughter-in-laws. The tops and drawer fronts are padouk and the legs and aprons are red oak. They were finished with a gloss pre-catalyzed lacquer.

    Nice!!!

Very pretty tables, Tony. They will love them. I assume someone was/is in the military. If so, thank them for their service.

    Thanks Lon

The Flag Case was for daughter-in-law. Her dad recently passsed away. He was in the Marine Corps Korean War era.
He led a fairly long fruitful life.
When asked to make a flag case, I was honored. I thought about it for a while and decided that I would make it out of padouk. Sooooooooooo, while I was at it I might just as well make some tables and use the cut-offs for the flag case. I had been out of woodworking for a while and am just getting back into it. My old stuff was washed away by hurricane Katrina 3 years ago so I'm starting from the bottom up.

Those tables are beautiful and so is the flag case! The wood choice, design and craftsmanship are excellent. I'm very sorry to hear about your shop, but you're sure doing well with whatever tools you have now.

I hear you about Katrina. I was working at Charity at the time...

Really like the legs on the front desk. Pretty slick design.

Very nice Tony. I'm sure your daughter in laws will be very happy.

The contrasting woods go well together. Great job again.
