You know, I looked at the one I got and I didn't see any meniton of a tansu so I was a bit confused. Either I missed it and tossed it or the one I got and specifically paid attention to was a newer one. Wanna send it to me...maybe scan it?!

I don't think you would have missed this one Chris. It is on the cover.

Ah, I think I see now. I was under the impression it was a Woodcraft CATALOG...not their magazine. I do not get this one. Is it current? Maybe I can find it on a newstand? Maybe at the borg? Is the article on the Tansu any good? I could see my wife "commissioning" more of these as so far, she is quite thrilled with what I've done....

    In that case Chris...

No the article is horrible and you can't find it anywhere.

These are only at woodcraft and maybe some of teh big box book stores. It is about 7 issues per year and has some pretty decent articles in it. I would not subscribe unless you pick one up first al a carte and see if you like it. This issue is well worth the news stand price.

I'm still going with this...at a snail's pace! Finally broke out The Domino!

I'm thinking, with the design of this piece, that I might be able to sand AND finish all the pieces and THEN glue it together. I'll only focus the glue on the dominos and I think it'll be plenty strong.

Even dry fitted, I can lift the thing and the dominos hold it together surprisingly well. Hmmmm.......

    Tansu

There was a tansu in an issue of AmWW or PWW or FWW a little while back. Last three months, anyway. I'll see if I can find it for you. He did a base and then the cubes sat in that; they were interchangeable, so you could alter the configuration as you (=LOYL) wanted from time to time. Send me the skp if you want and I'll have a go. If you want more designs, search the FHB Index for "Storage Stair."

I'm afraid I've learned much better ways to handle designs in SU and so there are no components in this tanusu's SU file so it may be painful to manipulate but here it is regardless. Maybe I'll redo it one day.

    Chris,

Looks great! It's such a good idea for a project, too - it fills a real practical need.

Looking back through this thread, I see from one of the older pictures that you and I have the same DeWalt chop saw. Mine is also missing the blade guard I'm working on fabricating a replacement for mine, because DeWalt wants something like $80 for a new one...

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, my CMS is missing its blade guard. I think it is out in the shed somewhere....
