Don't , repeat Do NOT underestimate these Gorillas

I received my Dust Gorilla yesterday. Decided to get the 3hp version since it was before the price increase and the price wasn't that much different from the 2.5 hp.

I gasped when I saw that shipping was $280, but when it arrived I was thinking, wow, $280 is a deal. This thing is massive.

I have plans to place the unit outside my shop (3 car garage, but tools are really only in 2 stalls) in a custom shed. But before that, I couldn't resist assembling to the point where I could mount the motor assembly and fire it up.

HOLY CRAP BATMAN. I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I'm not sure of my point here, but when I fired it up, I think some paint was sucked off my 1961 Delta RAS. I'm sure I would have been fine with the 2hp version. Oh well. Hope it isn't too noisy for the neighbors!

Again, what ever you are expecting, be prepared for a beast. There is a reason it ain't called the Dust Monkey.

Yup, yup...that unit will move a lot of air.

But don't run it without duct work attached... Should say that in the manual somewhere...

I ordered the 2.5 hp model in the spring when Oneida had free shipping east of the Mississippi. It's installed in my basement workshop.

With 4 4" blast gates open - TS, BS, Jointer, and Shark Guard above the tablesaw - it'll suck small cutoffs the size of my thumb through the Shark Guard. If I'm cutting small pieces that I don't want to lose, I have to close the blast gate to the Shark Guard.

    That's suckage!!
