i was going to post on an existing thread but thought i would start a new one where folks could show their work areas. the point is it dosent take much. i work for half the year at the outside bench. thats a stack of future yellow pads in the picture.

Looks good. Is the whole garage worshop space? I'm envious of that great big vise you've got there. Must weigh a ton. I have no pictures, as my work area is a total mess, but I'm working on it--honest! Right now I've got the lathe and miter saw in the garage, and carving stuff with the rest of the power tools in the basement. Hoping to use the long weekend to sort some of it out.

Looks very functional to me. Who cares about how it looks? I saw some pics of a guy's shop once and there wasn't a speck of dust to be seen anywhere. I wondering if he ever made stuff there.

its divided into three sections..the lower floor is divided by screens that can unscrew easily for larger projects. the east side is the work side and the west side is tools, sports equipment (surf boards, snow boards, fishing rods, and a 56 austin healey. upstairs is my office and a drafting table where i do all the inking and painting.

Now you want to get this thread shut down, I only have a few words for that car, Darn Nice, OK I edited myself(love the Creek too mutch). Very Cool car, I am rebuilding a 75 RD350 two stroke motorcycle, used to ride it to work every day(110+ mph) Illinois did not have a speed limit then(OK, I was younger) and did not really care. Very nice shop also, enjoy all of your gifts, I have a squirrel next to my window asking for attention, looks like it is barking at the neighbors dog, time to get in the middle.

    Sincerely,

    Heather

I'd be remiss if I didn't thank you for granting my wish. Beauuuuuutiful, man. You are fortunate. Now, back to the thread already in progress...

I would never have thought of doing my carving outside which would be pretty nice. Do you haul out your tools in tool rolls (hmmm, another thread comes to mind) or in boxes? I guess that's just a small detail. Secondly, your inside bench is pretty nice being in front of the windows. I have one, 24" window which is filled with a small A/C unit in the summer and a rudimentary solar collector in the winter... I guess I *don't* have a window after all!

Sorry for the long-winded post from a chronic lurker.

chiz.......its a very short distance to the outside "bench". (piece of plywood on saw horses). i usually bring the tools out as i need them and bring it all in at the end of the day. the bench is right on the other side of the windows you see in the inside shot. i like working outside cause i dont clean up the chips and the dust from rotary and power tools is much less of an issue. when its hot enough i put a strong fan a few feet away to blow the dust into the woods .
