Built Bar - Ready to Finish Need Recommendations

First - Pictures coming.

I've built a 9ft bar mainly out of red oak. I would like to finish it in black but don't quite know how to approach getting a nice looking black finish. Of course the top and bar rail must have a durable.

A key point is that I would not want to use a finish with a strong odor.

Any ideas woul be greatly appreciated.

If you can spray, get Jeff Jewitt to mix you up some Target Coatings USL in the sheen of your choice in black. Almost no odor and excellent results. (I used essentially the same product, although in white, to do my kitchen cabinets back in 2003)

While the waterborne may work well for kitchen cabinets, I'd be reluctant to use it on a bar top where standing water can be more of a problem. I'd want to go with an oil based enamel for all round greater durability. Odor levels of oil based paint these days is pretty low, as long as it isn't in a really enclosed space.
