    Turned Gavel

Latest gavel I turned from walnut and oak. Like to piddle with these kinds of turnings when I am not turning anything special. Used water base var to seal and finish this turning.
Second picture is of this same gavel and a vase turned from silver maple with the same finish. This wood comes from my neighbor's maple tree. He was pruning it last fall and I took a bunch. Turns out the tree had heart rot so I can't make anything special from this wood. Mitch
