    SU copy a hole - ?

A freind and I were discussing the way another graphics program requires that you fill a hole and drill another in order to 'move' the hole from one place to another.

I boasted that SU just allows you to move it to another spot. True enough.

But then I tried to move/copy the hole to a second spot to create two holes. I find that if you try, the circle can be moved, but the hole is filled in... PLUS, it's not possible to push/pull on the new hole to drill through the block. If you push/pull, the surface reteats leaving a cylinder.

    There's a way, I'm sure, I just haven't hit it yet.

Best I can think of is that instead of push-pull you just select and delete the inner faces (the roundy-bits in the middle). There will usually be two - one for each side of the object you're working with.

    From Dave Richards:

I saw your question. Figured it's too late to call so here it is in print. Select and copy the hole (Ctrl+Move) and then, get the Select arrow. Hold Ctrl and highlight the faces through which the hole is supposed to be drilled. The hole geometry should still be selected. Right click on the selected geometry and choose Intersect>With Selected. Now Push the hole open. Actually you don't need to select the entire hole for this. You could select just the circle that makes up the rim and copy that. Intersect and Push/Pull will take care of it.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    This is slick. Thanks, Dave.
