Occasionally I’ll find a SketchUp plugin that’s in text format rather than a file with an “rb” extension. I know to place the “rb” file in the “plugin” folder. What are the steps to utilize files offered in text format?

If it's a ruby script in just a plain text file...rename the file.

Thanks, Jim. That's it. Too simple. I have never tried/had the need to save a text file on a web page to my computer. Go to: File, Save Page as, Save as type: "Text Document", name the file, hit "Save".
Jim,
Could you elaborate a little it? I’ve not yet used Ruby Scripts. If it’s a text file, and assuming it’s being viewed in a text editor, how to you get the .rb extension?
Thanks
Harry - Where are you finding ruby scripts in text format, where you can "save page as"?
Paul - when a script is written in a simple editor (like Notepad), all you have to do when saving the script is to apply a .rb extenion. There's nothing magic, you just replace the default .txt with .rb. If Notepad still wants to apply a .txt extension after the .rb, just put double quotes around your name and Notepad will not append .txt.
Todd
Thanks, Tod.
