Just FYI so anyone close could start planning to attend. This will be two action packed days to learn, ask questions and find out new offerings from ShopBot. A lot of information is disseminated.

Look forward to meeting new faces and seeing old friends.

    Mike,
I don't have a ShopBot (right now I do anything like that on a MaxNC 15CL, and not very efficiently) but am thinking about it. Where is Wayne Locke's shop and how much does this cost?

    Thanks
    Glenn

Glenn, the Camp is free. ShopBot provides the breakfast and lunches so all
you have to do is show up. You are on your own for Hotels and getting here.
Waynes shop is in Southwest Austin out past the Y in Oak Hill. Easy to
    find.

Here is the link to info on the ShopBot Camps and Wayne's address which you can find with any map program.

A lot of people attending the camps do not have a ShopBot and are there to learn and get their questions answered. There are experts there from ShopBot to answer more detailed questions and help solve problems. A lot of information is given in two quick days.

    Mike,
Thanks, I live off MoPac so the hard part will be finding an excuse to miss the day job (yeah, sure).

Just call in well, and come have fun. If you can't make it on Friday, be sure to come for the day Saturday. Good to hear you are close by. We have several machines in the Austin area and I hear a few new ones. Any or all of us can help you get acquainted with ShopBot. Looking forward to meeting you.

    Shopbots in Austin

Hello Glen, I concur with Mike, you would have a great time at Waynes camp. You'll see a multitude of users & uses. Then you'll have to get one. Thats what happened to me, much thanks to Mike & Wayne. I'm in Austin & a relatively new owner/user. See you at Waynes.

    Mike, Neville,

I'm really sorry I missed the ShopBot camp. I had planned to attend but impending day job travel and the home improvement project from hell made it impossible. I won't go into any details but let me say that I'm sick of scraping, repairing, replacing, caulking, priming, painting, and moving scaffolding while changing out the complete HVAC system. I'm an idiot and there is no cure.

Glenn, sorry you couldn't make it. If we can help with anything please let us know. If you need to take a look we can show you what the system is capable of. Neville has a big machine and I have a small one. Here is a link with pictures of the Austin ShopBot Camp. http://campshopbot.blogspot.com/

Glenn, please come and see us before the Maker Faire in Oct. That is the next real big event in Austin, but we plan on having several smaller events before that. Neville and I have at least verbally committed to having a monthly "user group" to share ideas.

    http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/312810/

The ShopBot Jamboree will be held October 16, & 17th at the Travis County Fairgrounds and the Maker Faire will follow on Oct. 18, & 19th, 2008. There is not an agenda as yet, but there will be training and a lot of ShopBotters swapping ideas and showing and telling. They will descend from all over the country.

A couple years ago I went to Florance KY to learn to operate this beast. It was company paid too.

I would like to go to the Chicago tool show, its awesome and the second largest in the world. You would be amazed at what they are doing out there. Its yearly (in Chicago) and other big cities have one every two years. However, McCormick Place holds (space wise) more and therefore has more to offer.
