wood scrap recycling in St. Louis

I am looking for a large supply some 3/4" x any width solid lumber that would otherwise be thrown away.

Length can be anything greater than 12 inches.

I want to build some birdhouses.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks in advance!

    John,

Not sure of the intended us (not necessary to know here) but if you are planning on using them as a Boy Scout badge earning or building event, the BORG (actual orange one) gave me the supplies I needed by a show of plans.

I have been looking in cabinet shop dumpsters.

Any help finding a specific source near St. Louis or Sullivan, MO would be a big help.

There is a mountain of lumber at Peerless landfill in Valley Park. I spoke with the manager about picking through the pile. He said that it was not allowed because of insurance reasons.

I think that they are just grinding it up for mulch.
