    Hickory Vase

Well finially got some time in the shop yesterday and today. I had a chuck of hickory sitting on the shelf that I thought would make a nice HF. So I started on it. The LOML wanted a foot on it so I gave her a foot. Doesn't look to bad but I thought it would look better without. But hey what do I know. I also put a ebony collar on it and a detachable finial. It has a couple of coats of Minwax Antique Oil. Will let it set for a week then buff it. It is 9" tall, 12" with the finial and 5 1/2" across. Merry Christmas to all.

I agree with you about the foot Bernie, but then again I don't know much either.

    Merry Christmas.

Very nice Bernie! Beautiful detail work on the finial! Have to agree with you about the foot - but it sure looks great!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I think it's a great looking piece Bernie. I don't mind the foot, it works, but I agree with ya, I think I would like it better without.

    Great job.

    Happy Holidays,

    Bernie,

I like it, but I also agree about the foot. I goofed around with the photo because I wondered if the foot was made out of the same as the finial... what would it look like... well for better or worse here it is.

    Have a Nice Day!

Nice what you've done with that hickory Bernie. I think the foot is fine.

Thanks for the comments. This one was fun. I took my time with the monster HF tool. The foot has kinda grown on me. The LOML said she wanted one with a foot so if she is happy thats what counts. She has claimed that one.

Jon that is a good idea. I may try that on one just to see what happens. Thanks for the idea.
