Quick Tool Review - HF Pinner

I stopped at Harbor Freight this evening to buy a tarp to cover our camper and while I was wandering around I found a 23ga Pinner for $16 with 1000 pins. I brought it home, tried some 1" pins on a piece of oak, some pine, and some particle board and it worked great on all three.

Our club meeting happened to be tonight and another guy mentioned he had bought one a while back and was very happy with it as well.

I previously had a Porter Cable which cost me something like $140 and only sunk the pins flush with the surface. Porter Cable said that was proper operation and gave vauge instructions on how to grind the nose to make it sink the pins below the surface, but warned that it would void my warranty. I ended up selling it at a loss. This one sinks them nicely. I did get a chance to use our club's host's PC which is a newer design and it seems to sink the pins properly. I'm not sure if it has been modified or not.

Thanks for letting us know of another good 'un. Most of the stuff at HF seems to be "you get what you pay for", but I have ended up with a couple of pleasant surprises. The 43430 HVLP conversion gun with regulator is a monster of a performer for $19, and everyone should have one, even if it's just to spray stuff they don't want to put through their "good" guns.

    Matt,

    Thanks for the quick review.

HF seems to carry two 23ga pinners. Is yours item #93656 or #95882.

    Thanks,
    -Kevin

I have this one 93656 & it works great & you can order the pins to go with it.
I usually find it much easier to be wrong once in while than to try to be perfect.

My web page has a pop up. It is a free site, just close the pop up on the right side of the screen

Not sure what link you used. I found it without problem.
The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.
