    Uncle Ken

I asked Aaron Koehl to take Ken Salisbury's picture and add an Uncle Sam hat. The idea was to have a "poster boy" for the Freedom Pens Program, an icon that everyone would recognise.

Aaron has exceeded my expectations, the new poster is just the ticket and I think it is fantastic!!!

Who better to represent our program than an Army war veteren who can turn pens with the best of them.

Ken I hope you take this in the right way, it is a tribute to your tireless dedication and long hours supporting SawMill Creek and the Freedom Pen Program.

Thanks to Aaron for the beautiful work and to Ken for your continued support...

Hey Aaron send me that file in the biggest resolution you have. I will get posters available on the merchandise page. Prefereably if you can zip and upload the .psd file somewhere so I can resize as necessarry.

    That really looks cool . . . kinda scary . . . but cool!!

As far as posters . . . I think it would be great to have some posters to put up at schools, Turn-A-Thons, Woodcrafts, etc. but (no offense Ken!) I'm not sure this is the one since the average public wouldn't understand the premise.

What are the chances of someone who is computer savvy coming up with a generic type of poster that could be used and them us getting some in 2' x 3' sizes.

My creative juices are flowing . . . (either that or I just need to cough real bad!) . . .
    a collage of photos blended together . . . a troop writing home . . . a flag . . . Miss Liberty . . . a closeup of hands working on a lathe . . . a LARGE blowup of a wooden pen across the poster . . . the Freedom Pens logo with website address

The copy (writing) should be minimum . . . something like "Show a troop they're appreciated" or something like that ...

Real colorful. Thjey need to be able to be rolled up for shipping (not heavy cardboard).

I have a friend in the business of doing advertising from small things up to billboards. Want me to check?

    Thanks!

The poster is going on the main page of Freedompens.org

I think from a marketing standpoint the poster is perfect...it looks "Real". It's not too busy, the message is very clear and it will peak people's interest to visit our web site to see what the program is all about.

    Noah,

As soon as you get the poster on a T-Shirt at the Freedompens store let me know...I just have to have one for the Norfolk Turn-A-Thon
I would like a coffee cup too.

Forgive me if this is a double post . . . I'm still having problems with my computer picking up new messages. I tried posting this once but it never showed up.

Photoshop and I had fun on my Mac computer this afternoon and we came up with a generic poster. It's really rough and needs a lot of work but you can see it here . . .

Aaron did a super job putting Ken into that poster but again, when we are pitching this to the public, folks outside our circle won't understand the wit. I'd rather use the time with the public explaining the program and getting support than explaining Uncle Ken . . . hope there's no hard feelings . . . just one person's opinion on one given day.

    Thanks!

Thumbs up Jerry, I agree with generic poster

    I agree on two counts.

First - a poster or some type of flyer would be great for stores and sponsors.

Second - the poster should be generic so that the general public understands it. I like the Ken poster, but I would not want to try to explain it to others. For example, image that you only have 2 minutes to convince a sponsor. Do you want to spend that time explaining the poster, or explaining the importance and details of the program.

    Just my thoughts,

    I can't wait

Cool - I can't wait for the royalty checks start rolling in .

Jerry is probably right - even I would be pressed trying to explain this to someone who was sober .

    Beautiful!

Fantastic poster Jerry - I agree for the public using a more generic design also.
Did have a thought about the tag line:
How about "One Good Turn Deserves Another" Under the pic of the girl turning a pen???????

Kudos to both Jerry & Aaron for the great artwork.

    Talking Poster

Well I have to get my opinion in. You know opinion's are like tiny hiney's evrybody got one. I agree that the poster aron created was excellent but I have some of the same issue's as Jerry. Us older folks understand the concept. I like the generic poster it say it all with a little discussion. Uncle ken wants you would be excellent for us with in the realm of the program though if nothing else for a keep-sake. Excellent work buy both . Thanks

    Guys guys guys!
This was intended as a little piece of humor-- not a poster to be hung up for the public!
