    "Child Resistant" Finish??

I have a couple of items of furniture (small tables and such) that are in dire need of refinishing. However, my girlfriend has a 3 year old that is a bit brutal on the items. Can anyone suggest a finish that protects the wood as well as looks good? Some items are Cherry and some are what seems to be Popular.

    Thanks!
    Chris

Almost any quality clear finish will be helpful, whether an oil-based varnish or a water borne acrylic. Or...if you want something that can be easily "fixed", then shellac or lacquer is good choice.

Thanks Jim...that is the answer I expected. I just wanted to make sure.

Jim has given you good advise.

Let me add one off topic idea. There isn't a good reason for three-year-olds to be brutal to anything. You don't punish kids of that age but you can redirect their interests.
