The Old geezer and I went fishing at Sandy Hook on Sunday.


Now listen up. Its 10 days before Halloween.

The Atlantic was like a bathtub.

There were naked people swimming.

I got sunburned.

Al Gore is Fat.

We caught nothing but friendly vibes.

Oh Yes.

They are up in Mass.

When the water gets cooler the Makeral run south.

The stripers chase 'em.

However there was Albacore in the surf.

You would have a better chance of snagging one with a treble hook.

Fish travel.

The question should be, You can eat fish from the Atlantic Ocean?

By the way New York bay is the cleanest its

been since before the industrial revolution.

How come you're fishing on the beach, when you have your boat anchored off shore?

That is your boat in the 2nd pic, isn't it?

Crazy weather. It was in the 70's here yesterday. I thought we would have a new high temp for the date, but the all time high was 80 something back in the 60's, IIRC.

Anybody catch anything? Other than some sunshine.

Karl,

For the entire length of Sandy Hook,

and it was packed with surf casters anticipating the striper run,

2 searobins and a skate.

Oh yeah, we had a 3mph breeze from the southwest (Off Shore)

blows the baitfish schools out to the gulf stream, then the current moves them north. Where the fish are.

Last week the guys were pulling triggerfish out of the surf.

A triggerfish belongs on a coral reef.

Triggerfish.......

Used to see them all of the time diving in SouthEast Asia.
Saw one guy come up with part of his fin missing, about the size of 4 year old's hand, said a Triggerfish came after him and he was smart enough to keep his fins between his body and the Trigger.

Apparently they are very territorial during mating season.

Watch your fingers when pulling one of them out of the water.

Jealous Per, I spent Saturday in a boat fishing and I didn't see any naked swimmers, 55 degree water temp may have been part of the trouble though....

Looks like fun, did a bit of surf fishing when I was in Harlingen Texas way back, even did a bit of shark fishing, don't see many of them up here.

Take heart Per. Within a few weeks, the stripers will be in action and I plan on being there at least part of the time to drag in my share. My Brother lives in Cape May and a buddy and I will be heading down a few times, right into the months of December and probably January, to score our share. First though, it's off to Oswego,NY (within sight of Lake Ontario) to do a few days of salmon and trout fishing in the Oswego River. Jesus, I can't wait for next Thursday to get here!

I batted a complete zero this year - i fish off of island beach state park. Didnt get out much this year though. Maybe once the cold settles in the stripers will be out.
