Help! Can any of you engrave brass?

    Hi all,

I have only a laser engraver and I also have a customer who wants a 4.5" x 2.5" brass plate engraved. Apparently no one around this area has the capability. Do any of you engrave brass, and if so, can you give me a quote on what you would charge to engrave this plate for me? I can give you a letter/word count, or any other info you might require.

    Thanks for any help!

    A Michigan engraver here

Is the brass supplied by the customer? If not why not use Alumamark? If you would like a quote please send a PM with all the details....

I recently bought a diamond drag pantograph off of ebay and it works good for small stuff. We also bought a ring engraver which is quite fun to play with.

It only set us back about $750 and if you'll be the only one in the area, it may be worth your while to invest in one.

Any local trophy shop should be able to do that for you.

    Thanks. . .

. . .to all who offered assistance and/or advice. I have a helpful Creek member on the project and I am going to start seriously looking for an engraver. We had one other engraving/trophy shop in the immediate area and they have become unavailable for the most part. The next closest would have been a 1 hr. drive to get to, so farming it out to the Creek was a good option for me.

You can engrave brass with your laser. Here is a photo of a brass bussiness card I engraved for a customer yesterday. This was using LMM-14

    Very nice

Did you use anything special on the brass, or did you just engrave it as is?

The only thing I did was spray with the LMM-14. I engraved at 63 speed 100 power 400 dpi. This is a 100 watt laser.
