    Plumbing Acronyms

Any plumbers out there? Went to get some SS supply line for a sink and saw a couple I didn't know. What is W.C., FIP, SJ mean? I'm guessing W.C. is water closet for the toilet lines but don't know the others.

    thanks, Pete

I'm thinking FIP is Female Iron Pipe. Meaning a female adapter from copper to threaded pipe. MIP would be a male adapter.

I concur with you Rich. I think I can recall seeing the FIP thing on the package of some brass flare fittings for a gas range.

    Rich, Kyle,

That makes sense. The one end of a sink looks like it would be for a 1/2" pipe connection like you have for a sink connection. thanks for the replies.

The only plumbing acronyms you need to know

    HOTL, SDRU, PDF.

Hot On The Left, Sewage Don't Run Uphill, Pay Day's Friday.

("Sewage" is a euphemism for a less delicate term in the original version.)

Oh, yeah, one other thing... DBYF.

    Don't Bite Your Fingernails.

All in good fun, and no offense to any plumbers, OK?

I've got my own plumbing acronyms that I can't post on a public forum. Did I mention I HATE plumbing?
