Bob, I've found from my experience with the Minwax brand, that I can buff the next day without any problems.

I have a lot of Bradford Pear from the storms around here a year ago. It is a dream to turn, but just as I was starting to think it was kind of a ho-hum looking wood, you show up with your gorgeous HF. Thanks for the inspiration.

I turned a HF from Bradford pear a couple years ago and I can report that it turns very nicely. I finished it with CA, figuring that if it looks good on a pen then it ought to look great on a HF. The good news: the CA finish looks great. The bad news: the fumes nearly did me in. If you decide to do this then do it outdoors on a windy day.
