    EC dry fit......PICS...

Whew....what a project. One of these days I'm gonna build something small. Sorry if I'm over-posting this project, but it's been so long since I actually got to build anything I'm kinda excited.

Got the cabinet together and up to the dry fit stage on the doors, face frame and drawer front. This design actually hinges the door portion of the stiles on the face frame as well as the doors. This allows the doors to open up flat against the sides. Here are a couple of pics. Hopefully next weekend, it'll get fit for real, finish the shelves and the upper mouldings and start getting some finish on it.

    Thanks for looking,

    Terry

Beautiful cabinet, Terry. Like Todd, I also like the arches and I'll add that the matched panels on the doors are also very attractive. 'Can't wait to see the results!

    Terry,

That looks GREAT!!!! Gonna build something to match that will stand on both sides of the center cabinet?

Nicely done my friend and I have got to get up your way soon so you can show me how you do those stiles and rails. I have a Jesada set of router bits for stiles and rails and I can't seem to get them to fit the way they are supposed to. Any suggestions?

Can't wait to see if completed!!! LOML wants one and I think that design is GRAND..!!!!!
    Thanks & Happy Wood Chips,

What I want to know is how do you manage to build all those big beautiful pieces of furniture, and yet you managed to blow a little Walnut goblet all to pieces LOL

Dennis, one thing I found I have to do religiously when using rail and stile cutters is use feather-boards over and to the side to keep the stock moving "exactly" through the cut. The ends of the rails are hardest, since it's a bit more challenging to keep them down on the table and up against the fence just as good as with the long cuts on the stiles and rails with the first cutter. A backer block with the profile helps in one direction, but not in the other! I think that my solution to this problem for the future is going to be a drum sander...

    d,

Bring your bits when you visit and we'll get 'er figured out.

The are actually done with regular old tounge and groove costruction. Grooves cut with Eagle-America slot cutter and tounges made with the dado in the TS.

The basic design I stole form a mag article. Of course I had to redesign and resize to fit my 36" TV and to fit my taste and construction preferences.

    Well Ace it's like this......

The nuts and bolts issues of furniture construction I can handle just fine. It's the "artsy" aspect of turning that I can't seem to get the hang of. I like to turn, but I think I better mostly stick to furniture.

Maybe next year I will build a coffee table or something at the bbq and leave the turning to you artists.

Terry you keep posting! I like the design. As others have said the arches (both over the doors and above the floor) really set it off. I enjoy a project in the works.

When Dennis brings you the rail and style bits remember all those posts from the past. Jesada never seemed to get the shimming right as they sent them out, so that could be all it needs. Lots of folks though found that the profiles just didn't match. Jesada would have to take care of that. I have a set of Bosch and a set of Whiteside rail and styles. They both worked as shipped, but it may have just been a blessing.

    Mark,

hehehehehehe...I think that's a WHOLE different kind of "shop", even though the balance gets out of balance around here too, but it's not my wife.

    Terry,

In this case, I think it is "arteests" cause you know Ace is doing all that fancy inside out stuff. He has done stepped above plain ol' artist!

The EC is looking super. I'm looking forward to seeing it up close and personal!
