Problem doing a profile with SU?

When I do a profile with su I can do it fine if leaving the ends of the board square but when I try to mitre the end cannot find a way to do it. If I mitre first then try to do the profile then follow me or push pull it doesn't work either. I know there is a way but am unable to figure it out. Suggestions please.
    Thanks

    Steve.

When I have made profiles, I have not made the trim as individual pieces. I just make one piece. Then draw the profile, and select the path, and click follow me and it just works.

Hasn't Dave Richards put up a tutorial of the follow me tool? (Hmm, I think he did, but the pictures have disappeared. Guess he cleaned up his website)

Here, I tossed this out, hope it is some help.
1 - random bit of trim, such as might wrap around a bookcase (seen from the back)

2 - draw the profile. I just do a simple curve.

3 - select the path you want to follow (shift-select to get them all)
And then choose "tools - Follow me" and select the area (shaded in the
photo) to be removed by the follow me. Sorry, by screen-grab won't grab the mouse pointer so you can't see me selecting it.

    4- done

    5- another view.

I hope this is what you meant. If not, maybe it'll help someone else.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Was making the pieces independent as components. Now I know.

Steve, I think you can do it that way also... I was just showing the simple way I do things. I'm no expert, just been playing around with it for a while.
