Red face TOT in Denton, Texas

The Golden Triangle Woodturners will be doing a TOT at the Denton Arts and Jaz Festival April 27 to 29. Stop by and turn a couple or just say howdy.

Phil, do you take novice turners here? I did some turning 30 years ago, and then it was candlesticks and bowls - nothing as small as a pen.

And I have a prior commitment that may or may not cancel, so I may not make it anyway...

    Smile Sure

We accept anyone with the turning addiction. :>)
Meetings are first Monday evening each month and a hands-on workshop on the following Saturday.

    Phil,

Do you know specifically where you'll be set up in Denton this weekend?

Smile Easy to find this year.

There's a parking lot on the northwest corner of McKinney and Bell for the Civic Center. We are 1 row back from the driveway.

    Hope to see you there.

Thanks Phil. I hope we can make it by.

    How was your TAT?

    Hi Phil,

Just wondering if your TAT in Denton was successful. We couldn't make it because of a prior responsibility, but we thought about you. Hope everything went well.

    Cool Went well

We had a good turnout with 6 lathes going most of the weekend. Had 2 lathe motors burn out and one where the headstock bearings got so hot you couldn't touch the casting.

Not that many pens got turned but we did up 150 ahead of time. I think there were about 50 finished during the event. We'll finish enough to make up 200 to send in. There's anouther event, Celebrate Roanoke, latter in the spring but I don't remember the date.

Everyone ended up making tops to give to the kids. About 550 finished. I'm suprised how many kids don't know what a top is.
